Cardiac Models of Care
The State Cardiac Reperfusion Strategy (SCRS) is a system of care for patients with a suspected Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS).
The NSW Chest Pain Pathway represents the minimum standard of care for patients with chest pain presenting to emergency departments.
Two pathways have been developed and will be implemented depending of the capacity of the facility to provide primary angioplasty (PCI):
- Chest Pain Pathway - Primary PCI site
- Chest Pain Pathway - Non-primary PCI site
Cardiac monitoring is a routine activity which is carried out in hospitals throughout NSW. Over time individual hospitals have developed a range of protocols and standards for cardiac monitoring. This has resulted in variance in practice between hospitals and between Local Health Districts. This policy has been developed using the available evidence to assist clinicians to provide best practice in the management of adult cardiac patients who require cardiac monitoring.
