The objectives of the model of care are:
- clarity across the NSW Health system about the trauma service function and structure
- stronger trauma network referral arrangements and support for regional trauma services
- reduction in unwarranted clinical variation in trauma care delivery and patient outcomes
- delivery of consistent quality of care for all trauma patients, regardless of where they are injured in NSW
- development of a patient-focused trauma system in NSW
- improved coordination across clinical networks involved in the ongoing care and rehabilitation of trauma patients.
