Trauma Guidelines and Position Statements
Trauma guidelines and position statements are vital tools to assist trauma clinicians in making appropriate clinical decisions whilst caring for the injured patient.
The guidelines are intended to provide a general guide to the management of specified injuries. The guidelines are not a definitive statement on the correct procedures, rather they constitute a general guide to be followed subject to the clinicians judgement in each case.
The position statements outline an endorsed position taken by NSW ITIM on a given clinical topic. Whilst not technically a clinical guideline, position statements should be used to assist decision making and support local policy and procedure development.
