Graduates lead local healthcare innovation

Graduates lead local healthcare innovation

Graduates from the Agency for Clinical Innovation Centre for Healthcare Redesign were awarded their diploma of project management by the Hon. Jillian Skinner MP, Minister for Health, Minister for Medical Research on Friday.

The graduation day gave participants the opportunity to showcase the results of their projects and celebrate their achievements with fellow school graduates, their Local Health District sponsors and ACI redesign leaders.

ACI Acting Chief Executive Chris Shipway said the program encourages integration of the health system and will help to improve the way health care is delivered.

“With a population in NSW that is growing and ageing, innovation is essential to the healthcare environment and will help us to improve the experience and delivery of healthcare and give better outcomes for patients”.

“The CHR diploma program allows clinical and non-clinical staff to gain new skills and capability to lead innovation and improvement in healthcare service delivery in their own facilities. It is wonderful to see local health services investing in their staff and providing them with professional development opportunities” said Mr Shipway.

The CHR School offers three Diploma Programs a year for managers and clinicians working in the NSW health system. The 20 week course offers participants the latest knowledge and training in project management, clinical redesign and change management for healthcare professionals and managers using a variety of teaching methods including workplace coaching.

During the program, participants are supported with comprehensive training and workplace mentoring. They lead a real project in their workplace and involve patients and staff to identify and implement improvements. To date, the program has seen over 350 improvement leaders graduate across a range of NSW metropolitan, rural and statewide health services.
